A bright yellow umbrella sits like the sun over the pale blue waters of a beach in Thailand. Always look for unusual angles to lend more interest to your photographs.
Umbrella Tree
It's a ritual prop with a long pole and a 3-chi canopy in diameter on the top. Made of iron wires and bamboo strips, the umbrella is covered with yellow silk on top with two layers of rims drooping around. The lower layer is about one and a half chi in length embroidered with multicolored dragon and phoenix on yellow satin or silk, while the upper layer is half-chi with flouncing rims of red or green silk. The maid holding the yellow silk umbrella shall follow behind the sun-moon fans with the canopy leaning ahead over the head of the emperor or his concubines.
